A Knight to Remember

I had the privileged of attending the Knighting Ceremony at Bremerton High since Derrek was nominated along with 29 other worthy students by their peers and teachers. I have to say this was the most fun I've ever had at any type of ceremony my kids were involved in and the most interesting. At the beginning on the stage were 13 high back chairs.

Then the Knight appeared, shining armour and all, where he then walked across the stage to his chair. On the floor in front of him was a velvet pillow. Then Mr. Smith went to the podium and introduced all 30 of the nominees where they were sitting closest to the isle and stood in place as he read their name so everyone could applaud for them and then the nominees sat down.

Then the fun began! Mr. Smith exclaims, "Drum roll please!" and out came the junior class officers dressed in royal blue graduation robes and they start running crazily throughout the auditorium, back and forth, no one knows when or where they will stop and then BAM, one of them grabs a nominee, (it's kind of scary because it totally takes the nominee by surprise!) the drum roll stops and everyone starts screaming and clapping and the newest Knight then goes up to the stage, kneels in front of the Knight on the velvet pillow. The Knight in shining armour then takes out his sword and taps the newest knight on each shoulder and then they rise and take their place in a chair on the stage. This goes on until all thirteen Knights are chosen. Derrek and Hanna were talking to each other when BAM, an officer grabs Derrek!!! He was shocked, I was shocked, the audience was shocked but totally excited and screaming!

A few students later and then Hanna was chosen too and once again I'm screaming with the audience! It was so much fun!!!!

From here on out, the Knights of the class of 2007's picture will grace the wall of Bremerton High School forever! This has been a tradition for over 50 years and each year the students chosen represent the epitome of what being a Knight is all about. I'm so proud of Derrek! Congratulations son!!!

Wow Beth! Your children are so busy and do so well in everything they do. They couldn't have done all of this without you! You are such a fantastic, wonderful and dedicated mother. I only hope that I can be a mother like you to Averee and have her achieve and succeed in a lot of things that your children have. And now you get to share your wonderful mothering talent by being a nanny. Congratulations to you and the kids on everything. I miss you and love you!
